June is pride month. A month dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ communities all around the world.

Pride is celebrated in the month of June, as this was the month when the Stonewall riots took place. The riots took place in June 1969 in the US. It is monumental as these protests changed gay rights for a lot of people not only in America but around the world.

Pride is a celebration of people coming together in love and friendship to support the LGBTQ+ community and to highlight how far the movement has come. It is also a month to stand together and raise awareness of the history and issues still affecting the LGBTQ+ community today. In some places there is still work to be done and sadly many still face Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

Did you know?

A rainbow flag is a symbol for the LGBTQ+ community. Each colour on the flag has its own meaning. In the representational six-colour flag, red is symbolic of life, orange is symbolic of healing, yellow is sunshine, green is nature, blue represents harmony and purple is spirit.
