Empowering Women Through Mental Health Awareness & the Art of Henna
At 3D Training, we are passionate about delivering unique and engaging opportunities that empower our learners. Recently, we partnered with Torus Foundation to deliver a Level 1 Mental Health Awareness course, featuring a unique Henna Workshop led by guest speaker Inaaya.
This four-week course was not just about gaining knowledge, it was an experience that encouraged self-expression, boosted confidence, and fostered a sense of community among our learners.
Throughout the course, learners explored essential topics surrounding mental health, including how to support themselves and others. The addition of the Henna Workshop added a creative and therapeutic element to the course. Henna, widely recognised as a beautiful form of body art, also offers profound mental and spiritual benefits. Inaaya guided the group in learning about Henna’s relaxing properties, its use as a cultural and spiritual practice, and its ability to promote mindfulness and inner calm. The learners were also able to design and practice their own Henna art.
For many, the workshop became a highlight of the course. It offered a safe space for creativity and reflection while encouraging the learners to focus on the present moment, an essential practice for mental well-being.
One of the most rewarding outcomes of this program was seeing the participants come together to form new friendships. One learner, who initially felt anxious and unsure about joining the course, shared how the experience boosted her confidence and connected her with a supportive group of peers. She now plans to stay in touch with her new friends and is excited to continue her learning journey.

“The combination of mental health and Henna was a great way to demonstrate how connecting with others and learning new skills can positively impact mental health and well-being. The Henna workshop was a perfect way to end each session, as it provided a relaxing experience for learners, both in watching and participating. The mental health course helped learners understand the different terminology related to mental health and explore ways in which well-being can be promoted.” Imelda Watling, 3D Training Adult Education Tutor
Nadia’s Testimonial: Embracing Mental Health and Henna
“I have really enjoyed the group discussions during the sessions, it was insightful to hear other people’s stories and opinions and a great opportunity to explore different cultures. I feel like I have gained confidence and found new friendships.
The Henna workshop was really fun. I didn’t realise the amazing benefits, like its healing properties. It felt like therapy, watching Inaaya do the amazing designs. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing which was a nice balance while doing the Mental Health L1 qualification as the subject can be overwhelming.
The Mental Health L1 qualification gave me new knowledge. I now understand the difference between mental health and mental ill health. I feel more confident in recognising symptoms which has helped me with my own mental health and family. I now feel I have the tools to go out and do what I want to do. I would love a career in mental health or counselling. My next goal is to complete the Mental Health level 2 qualification and explore what other opportunities are out there.”
Our partnership with Torus Foundation has been a great success, by creating spaces where individuals can learn, express themselves, and build connections, we are fostering stronger, more confident communities.
