Meet Laura and Becky, founders of Females First. A safe place for women to come together. Promoting women’s wellbeing, offering friendly advice, chats, crafts, and even mini spa treatments.

Over the last year, Laura and Becky have worked incredibly hard to create positive changes in their lives. Struggling with personal mental health and juggling life being parents both ladies made the decision to start our Counselling Level 2 course where they both met for the first time. They instantly connected and got to know each other. They became study buddies and discovered they had so much in common including having children of a similar age both with learning difficulties. Laura and Becky went on to support each other gaining a number of qualifications including Counselling Level 3 and making the big step to start running their own women’s group ‘Females First’.

Laura and Becky both say that if it wasn’t for Three Dimensional Training, they wouldn’t have set up the group. Developing their own knowledge gave them the confidence boost they needed.

The courses they attended where delivered at different community centres across Wirral, including Neo and Tomorrow’s Women. This helped, as they both say that the thought of a college or university environment was very scary. The training sessions they attended fitted around their lifestyle and were flexible if they had to attend hospital appointments with their children. This made a big difference and made the courses feel achievable.

Both Laura and Becky said that the support they were given by their tutors was invaluable. Becky said, “All tutors have been so kind, genuine and approachable”. Laura said that one tutor in particular, Sue, taught her techniques on how to help her to open up and talk about how she was feeling and described her teaching method as ‘powerful’.

Laura and Becky both strongly believe, that developing knowledge and understanding and completing qualifications is a form of self-care. It has helped them in so many ways and wouldn’t hesitate to advise anyone who is ‘stuck in a rut’ or not sure of what to do, to get in contact with the 3D team. Laura said, “We recommend 3D to everyone we meet, when you go to the class you won’t regret it, you never know what’s going to happen”.

So, what is next for Laura and Becky? Both plan on continuing to grow their Females First group, by gaining extra support and building connections within the community. Both say they are feeling motivated, excited and incredibly proud of what they have achieved so far.
