Jade attended The Brink as part of her recovery journey. The Brink provides a range of services to help anyone affected by drugs, alcohol and gambling. While attending The Brink, Jade met course tutor Shelly, who introduced her to the opportunities available with 3D Training.

“I’ve always been interested in mental health because of my own experiences and the ways I’ve supported others. The idea of gaining a new qualification and learning something new appealed to me.”

Jade found that Shelly’s supportive approach helped put her at ease when starting the courses, which in turn boosted her confidence.

“I really enjoyed the learning environment. The courses were interesting and informative, and they helped me gain new knowledge that I can use in everyday life.”

Jade’s long-term goal is to become a Mental Health Nurse, with the ambition of eventually specialising as a Substance Misuse Nurse. After completing numerous courses with 3D Training, Jade took a big step forward by applying to university and successfully securing a place on a Nursing degree.

Shelly, her course tutor, supported her throughout the process, including helping Jade to put together a strong personal statement.

Ever since she was a little girl, Jade dreamed of becoming a nurse. Life took her down a different path, but now, at the age of 35, with her children growing up and after overcoming many lived experiences, Jade is now turning that lifelong dream into a reality.

“To anyone thinking about training, I’d say be open-minded,” Jade shared. “It’s not as scary as you think. We’re all at different levels, and the support from your course tutors will help you through”

Jade will proudly begin her Nursing degree in September 2025.
