Developing Mental Health Skills and Awareness
Francesca completed the Mental Health Level 1 course at Core Project and shared her experience with us:
“I wanted to do the Mental Health course to raise my awareness of mental health issues, especially as I have family members who struggle, and I volunteer with the Scouting movement.
“One of the most eye-opening things I learned was how different mental health conditions can look from person to person, even when the diagnosis is the same, like depression or anxiety.
“The course has really helped me to better understand my son’s depression and anxiety, allowing me to make sense of past situations and feel more prepared to support him in the future. It also helped me recognise my own experiences with anxiety and depression and find ways to manage them.
“I really enjoyed the course; it helped me to socialise and connect with others. Since completing it, I’ve gone on to study more courses, including Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties, Suicide Awareness, TA Level 1, Counselling Level 1, and Introduction to Criminology.
“I would definitely recommend this course to others. Education helps people to understand what they and those around them might be going through. I really hope courses like this continue to be offered so more people can keep learning and growing.”
